H&K haters? Why?

In regards to the post “H&K G36K”…
This more or less shows the narrow-mindedness of so many brand name/firearm bias or shall I say fanboy-ism. It feels like I’m listening and reading the male equivalent to Twilight fans.
The uninformed usually make comments to suit their needs and beliefs, which is understandable. I see and read it on HK forums, AK forums, FAL forums, Glock forums, 1911 forums, SIG forums, XD forums, Taurus forums, AR forums…so forth. Every brand or make of firearm has its fans and its haters. Usually the haters tend to get their information from other haters.
For example…a lot of people hate on Glocks, calling them hand grenades. There are even photos of damaged Glocks blown to pieces. Take a picture of a blown up Glock and you can start a crazy internet rumor that they are dangerous. A lot of blown up firearms are due to shooter stupidity. They loaded their custom ammo too hot and the pressure exceeded the factory limits. No shit. Car factory says use only unleaded gas but you put diesel cause it’s cheaper and then your car’s engine won’t run anymore and you call it a piece of shit? More like the owner is the idiot.
I’ve seen a Taurus revolver blown up as well. The guy who made the video came clean and said he rigged the video so the revolver would explode by blocking the barrel with an obstruction you couldn’t see on camera.
I’ve seen 1911’s and even the mighty Barrett M107 blown up. Why? Shooter error again…
As for the G36 melting…it’s not rocket science, the gun is made of polymer and polymer will always melt before steel. Now like most modern firearms companies, H&K designed and tested the G36 based on combat scenarios. The limits reflect that. I’m pretty sure modern military trains their soldiers to fire in bursts and avoid prolonged automatic fire with assault rifles. Cause seriously, real life combat is not Call of Duty or Battlefield shit. You aren’t going to stand and uses up 5 or 10 magazines in a minute. If someone is shooting back at you that means you’re probably going to try and find cover and return fire in a controlled manner. You don’t want to run out of ammo and your support team member can use their light machine guns to do the job your assault rifle can’t.
I haven’t seen any melted G36 images yet, not saying they don’t exist. If someone did test it to the point it melted, such as maybe several thousand rounds on constant sustained fire without letting the barrel cool, then yes it would melt, but that is beyond factory limits. Military testing always tries to see the breaking point of any rifle considered for standard issuing.
The G36 melting rumor probably stemmed from two things. First would be the military testing to its breaking point. Someone who was there for the testing tells someone else “Oh that rifle melts after x amount of rounds without cooling down”. Person who heard it passes it along and then it gets lost and posted on the internet for haters to hug and cuddle onto.
Second possibility is someone tested the rifle’s limit and did manage to get it to melt and goes off on a self-justified information rant about how crappy a gun is. Well any gun will fail if you shoot it without cooling down periods.
I thought it was kind of funny that one so called newspaper report stated the G36’s accuracy suffered from overheated barrels. No kidding…all rifles loose accuracy the hotter the barrel gets. Common sense for gun owners, not so common sense for people reporting on guns who then spread misinformation to feed the misinformed.
I don’t get it to be honest why gun owners can be so picky. I like AK’s, HK’s, FAL’s, M1A’s, and even AR’s in spite them being money pits for customization. I don’t hate on any of them. I’ve owned all sorts of rifles. My AK’s have been reliable and rugged. My FAL was heavy and cumbersome but felt really nostalgic, my M1A was long, accurate and American. My HK was clean and futuristic.
I guess when you look at it, most people hate on things they can’t have. A lot of guy’s hate on fast cars, other guy’s with beautiful women, and I guess guns can be included as well.
Sorry for the long post. I want correct and factual information on my blog, and sometimes some comments are a bit off. I don’t go around posting the AR is a piece of shit or the AK is made by drunk former Communists who could never assemble anything complicated. Seriously why the hate on some brands?
