Haven’t done one in a while, been kind of lazy this week. Was off from work for 4 days which meant I got caught up with homework. My semester is ending in a week or so, then the fall semester begins.
Also noticed I missed the usual daily Armed Citizen posts. I’ll get back onto that, I haven’t removed/stopped that particular post to my blog.
I’m sure everyone’s had this kind of “do-nothing-at-all” kind of days. Usually I’m at work then doing homework. Less days at work means less stress, but also being up to date with all the papers and discussions for class. Then I’m literally stuck with nothing to do.
Summer is coming to an end, even though it didn’t feel like it to be honest. I’m hoping work picks up for the fall so I can make the money I used to. Haven’t really bought anything firearms wise lately, not even ammo. Thankfully payday is this week and maybe I’ll pick up the trigger group for my Mosin project.
So what does boredom do for me? Lately I was playing Mass Effect 3 to see the endings from the new downloadable content and something struck me idea wise.
One of my favorite characters in the series is Legion. Always liked his Widow sniper rifle. Then I recall seeing some life-size props of the Widow and Black Widow. Looking at the design, I think I could in theory machine a chassis around a .50 BMG bolt-action receiver and make a working version. I wouldn’t go cheap-ass with it either, having a conventional bolt handle sticking out. I have an idea/design in mind to operate the bolt while having it concealed in the chassis so it still looks like the original, exact 1:1 copy.
This is a 1:1 prop of the Black Widow. I’d have to find or buy a prop version to get some dimensions on it. Only thing that would be a problem with this project is cost. Maybe after my Mosin project and DShK.
