This isn’t necessarily about the type of rifle, but the finish. Something I’ve always wanted as a personal SHTF (Shit Hits The Fan) rifle was a classic war torn, battlefield pickup look. As much as I like a brand new gun with a fresh finish, it lacks that sense of character, it’s just another off the shelf purchase.

If you’re lucky, sometimes parts kits have that worn down patina and you don’t have to worry about the finish, aside from the receiver which has to be a U.S made part to begin with. It’s not difficult to mimic that type of finish though, just need some steel wool or a scoring pad. Wish I had that rifle in the photos. Another project to consider.
