OH-58 Kiowa

A small helicopter with different roles, the OH-58 is named after an American Indian tribe. Operational use has it mostly as armed aerial recon to support ground units but it has been used for evac and rescue on some occasions.

Most if not all of the Kiowas in the photos are the OH-58D, which can be configured with different payloads. Everything from Hellfire and Stinger missiles to rockets and 50 caliber machine guns. The Kiowa is planned to be retired around 2030, having begun service in 1969.
